Playing fetch

Have you ever played fetch with a dog? I almost acidentaly trained Puddins how to play fetch with a hairband. I slide it across the floor, and she will chase after it and usually she will bring it back to me. She doesn't do it every time, but she does do it most of the time. She is very smart!

Good news and Bad news

William, Mommy, Daddy and are playing in an orcestra, and we aer having our first concert on sunday! I have gotten several things for the concert! (so has william. He got a mute) I got a mute, a dress, and shoes! I really needed new shoes. Mine were quite Tashi-torn and the leather was rubbing off. My new shoes are just black pumps, but they are my first high heeled shoes that aren't boots!
Daddy has shingles! This is bad. He is very contagious; a "walking death sentence" according to his blog. This is really bad because from now until easter, we have stuff going on every day. Please pray for him.
Yesterday, I accidently shut the drawer on Puddins' paw. She bit my hand because she was panicking. (she wasnn't the only one) Now I have one swollen finger and oone swollen knuckle. It's not infected, and it doesn't hurt too much, but it is very annoying. Thankfully, Puddins came out of it with out a scratch. She doesn't limp, and she still has all four feet. She has forgiven me too. I think she knows it was an accident.

Peanut Training Day 1

Started : 8:31 am
Finished: 8: 45 am

I started with trying to teach him how to show me that he has chosen a plate. I held a plate and a small piece of bread. I showed him the bread, and then put it on the plate. When he reached for it, I gave him the piece of bread.
I did this test twice, and each time he reached for it immedietly.

Next, I tried it with a cup on top, to see how well his memory worked. I wanted to see if he could remember that there was a treat under the cup. If he reached for the cup, then I would hand him the treat.
I did this three times. The first time he hesitated, but later he reached for it imediatly.

The third test was with two plates, but no cups. I put one small piece of bread on one of the plates, and nothing on the other one. ( I let him see me put the treats on, as always.)
I did this twice. He always picked the plate with the treat, whether it was on the left or the right.

The last test I did today was very tricky. I had two plates, and two cups. I showed him me putting the treat under the cup, then I would offer him the plates. Hopefully, he would choose the plate with the treat under the cup.
I did this three times. Twice he got it wrong, bu the last time he figured it out.

Silly bird!

That was too funny! William was slapping his leg, trying to get Riker to come to him, and then Peanut shouted "OW!". Its like he thought that William was hurting himself! Too funny....

HORSES!!!

We just returned from Chamber Music Weekend, and I am rather sore. William, my cousin Jo, and I went to a friend's house, and they had two horses! Jo and I were in our matching pinafores, and William was in his Sabbath pants and shirt, so Jo and I took off our outer pinafores and rode in our night-gown-like under dresses. Mine is long sleeved, and it was a very hot day. So you can understand we all needed a shower BADLY before the concert that night. They let us ride, and, as I am out of shape and haven't ridden in a while, I am very sore. But it was worth it. I used to take lessons, as you may remember, but that was dressage. They rode western, and you need a bit more "umph" in your movements. You don't just squeeze with you knees, you kick into the horses sides, etc. One of the super-duper cool things was I got the horse to trot all by my self!!!! And, another reason I am sore is I didn't post properly.. :(

The Concert Saturday night was wonderful! As was vespers. For vespers the division 2 orchestra played three pieces, the first movement of the Brook Green Suite, Appalachian Sunrise, and Contrasts in E Minor.

Interesting Statement

Yesterday I was looking through my history book, and I came across this sentence, which I thought was rather interesting. "Americans loved complicated ways of simplifying everyday life."
