Peanut Training Day 1

Started : 8:31 am
Finished: 8: 45 am

I started with trying to teach him how to show me that he has chosen a plate. I held a plate and a small piece of bread. I showed him the bread, and then put it on the plate. When he reached for it, I gave him the piece of bread.
I did this test twice, and each time he reached for it immedietly.

Next, I tried it with a cup on top, to see how well his memory worked. I wanted to see if he could remember that there was a treat under the cup. If he reached for the cup, then I would hand him the treat.
I did this three times. The first time he hesitated, but later he reached for it imediatly.

The third test was with two plates, but no cups. I put one small piece of bread on one of the plates, and nothing on the other one. ( I let him see me put the treats on, as always.)
I did this twice. He always picked the plate with the treat, whether it was on the left or the right.

The last test I did today was very tricky. I had two plates, and two cups. I showed him me putting the treat under the cup, then I would offer him the plates. Hopefully, he would choose the plate with the treat under the cup.
I did this three times. Twice he got it wrong, bu the last time he figured it out.

Silly bird!

That was too funny! William was slapping his leg, trying to get Riker to come to him, and then Peanut shouted "OW!". Its like he thought that William was hurting himself! Too funny....

HORSES!!!

We just returned from Chamber Music Weekend, and I am rather sore. William, my cousin Jo, and I went to a friend's house, and they had two horses! Jo and I were in our matching pinafores, and William was in his Sabbath pants and shirt, so Jo and I took off our outer pinafores and rode in our night-gown-like under dresses. Mine is long sleeved, and it was a very hot day. So you can understand we all needed a shower BADLY before the concert that night. They let us ride, and, as I am out of shape and haven't ridden in a while, I am very sore. But it was worth it. I used to take lessons, as you may remember, but that was dressage. They rode western, and you need a bit more "umph" in your movements. You don't just squeeze with you knees, you kick into the horses sides, etc. One of the super-duper cool things was I got the horse to trot all by my self!!!! And, another reason I am sore is I didn't post properly.. :(

The Concert Saturday night was wonderful! As was vespers. For vespers the division 2 orchestra played three pieces, the first movement of the Brook Green Suite, Appalachian Sunrise, and Contrasts in E Minor.

Interesting Statement

Yesterday I was looking through my history book, and I came across this sentence, which I thought was rather interesting. "Americans loved complicated ways of simplifying everyday life."

My Birthday

This year I turned 13! I got some things that I have been really wanting. I got an oil paint set from Grandma, which I am going to use for Art class. It is really nice, with 12 brushes and 12 different colors, a palette knife and a stylus.

I also got three books about horses and Gibert and Sullivan's "Gondoliers", one of my favorites!! My friend is going to turn 13 soon too!

So Cute!!

Soliel decided that it would be a good time to take a nap, and obviously she told this to Charlie somehow. Because as soon as she got comfortable, he started talking softly to her. He used to say things like "hello, peek-a-boo, tick tick tick" etc., when he would take a nap. I think he did this to kind of sing himself to sleep, so it was so sweet that he would lull Soliel to sleep too!

Worst January

This must be one of the saddest Januarys of my life! We had to put Tiba down last night, and now we only have 5 cats! And it is only 19 days till my birthday!

What's wrong?, Why now?, and Thank you.

Tiba has been favoring her legs recently. I just noticed today. We don't know what happened, or what is wrong. She is having a hard time walking, and she can't jump at all. She was just fine a few day ago.....

When Mommy and I were out shopping around 10:00, We got a call from Daddy. He said he was not feeling well and he wanted to go home. Whenever someone says they are not feeling well, my heart stops then starts to race. Poor Daddy. He was not feeling good to his stomach. Mommy still has asthma like symtoms, and she does not have the strengh to take care of Daddy.

I do have something to be thankful about. Mommy and I spent the first hours of the day shopping for clothes for me. I have grown a lot since we last bought stuff, so everything was getting VERY SMALL. We got FOUR PAIRS OF JEANS!!!!!! And all of them fit! We also got a very nice jacket, and a turtle neck to go underneath. The jacket reminds me of a riding habit. it is brown plaid, suitish style. We also got me some high heel boots!:)
